The idea of establishing a ‘Gaushala’, took root in the mind of Shri Pushpendra Prasad ji. He is who chose Meergadh at the foothills of Gaumukh mountain of the majestic Arbudachal , a village close to the city of Abu road, in southern Rajasthan, for this task. Meergadh is near enough to be accessible, and yet far enough to retain the rustic flavour of Indian country life. This is where the Gaushala is located. The Gaushala established here, is a Gaushala in the strictess sense of the word, Gau i.e. cow, and shala i.e. refuge or shelter. The Gaushala in Meergadh, is truly a refuge for the dying Gir breed of cow.The Gaushala in Meergadh, is truly a refuge for the dying Gir breed of cow.
